WASHOKU WORLD CHALLENGE 2017 – ASIAN AND UNITED STATES TOURNAMENTS

DEADLINE

ASAP! (no later than October 6, 2017)

DESCRIPTION

Share your love for Japanese cooking by creating two recipes featuring dashi made from kombu kelp and bonito flakes. One must be a suimono (with at least three ingredients), and the other should be a fuchidaka mori (with at least five dishes). Both must reflect the UMAMI theme.
Contestants that pass the application screening will be asked to make the soup at the qualifying tournament (for five people, in 90 minutes); the regional winners will make the second dish at the final tournament (for five people, in 120 minutes.

ELIGIBILITY

Open worldwide to chefs with at least 2 years experience as a chef, and experience in cooking Japanese cuisine. Not open to chefs of Japanese nationality. Must be able to participate in one of the qualifying tournaments (transportation is not provided at this level of competition).

PRIZES

6 Regional Prizes (1/region): Travel and hotel expenses for the final tournament, to be held in Tokyo, Japan on February 13-14, 2018. Winner will also participate in Japanese cooking seminars in Japan, have the chance to apply for the Certification of Cooking Skills for Japanese Cuisine in Foreign Countries (Bronze), and be covered by international media.
Grand Prize: No mention is made of a top prize, other than the recognition it will bring.

Submit your signature recipe for an original appetizer that pairs gloriously with Gloria Ferrer Sonoma Brut. Make it sound great, look beautiful, and taste wonderful! The recipe must be written in 500 words or less. Photos are optional and will not be judged.
Four semifinalists in each of three regions will compete in cook-offs in October 2017 for the chance to continue on to a national cook-off.

ELIGIBILITY

Open to legal residents of the United States who are age 21 or older.

PRIZES

12 Round 1 Prizes: A $100 pre-paid debit card for required appetizer ingredients for the regional cook-off. Enter your unique new recipe to add excitement to a school meal, featuring Gold Kist Farms® A+ Chicken™ Fillets, Breakfast Fillets, or Tenders.
This is the last of three overlapping entry periods for this contest. Each entry period has its own theme and prize.

ELIGIBILITY

Open to legal residents of the continental United States and DC who are age 18 or older. Must be a school Foodservice segment (K-12) employee.

PRIZES

3 Grand Prizes (1 per product category/period): The Full Value of one lunch, for one day, at one school within the school district in which the winner is employed; a National ad campaign in School Nutrition magazine; Recipe featured on the Gold Kist Farms®website; and Recipe and winning school showcased at SNA Annual National Conference 2018.

TASTE OF HOME: SLOW COOKER AROUND THE WORLD RECIPE CONTEST

DESCRIPTION

Enter your slow cooker dishes with a global theme. Make it a stay-cation with easy international tastes! There's no mention of the common Taste of Home 12-ingredient limit in this contest.
Taste of Home wants to hear the background or story of each recipe. You may also upload a photo.

ELIGIBILITY

Open to legal residents of Canada (excluding QC), the 50 United States and DC who are age 18 or older. Once you have won the Grand Prize in a Taste of Home contest, you are not eligible to win a Grand Prize for one year; you may win lesser prizes.

PRIZES

Grand Prize: $500.
First Prize: $300.
Second Prize: $150.
Third Prize: $75.
8 Honorable Mention Prizes: A book.
All winners may have their names and recipes published in a future Taste of Home magazine or cookbook.
