Some of these contests are open to amateurs but do not prohibit professionals from entering in their rules. For many, entrants must be employed by a culinary institution, restaurant or foodservice organization in order to qualify.

THE LITTLE CHEF FAMILY EDITION CASTING CALL

Does your family like to cook together? Tell the sponsor in 250 words or more how your family likes to cook together, and include a photo of the family in the kitchen.
Ten semi-finalist families will be asked to submit a video showcasing the family cooking with small potatoes. They will also be interviewed. Two families will go on to have a cook-off on The Marilyn Denis Show in December 2017.

ELIGIBILITY

Open to legal residents of Canada. Must enter as a Family (maximum size 4 participants), defined as at least 1 but no more than 2 adult parent/legal guardians, and at least 1 but no more than 3 minor children between 6 and 17 years old. A parent/guardian who is age 18 or older must submit the entry.

PRIZES

2017 START WITH SEAFOOD RECIPE CONTEST

There are several ways to enter this contest. The first is for adults: enter an original recipe featuring wild game, fish, or any foraged wild edible. The second option is for adults also: enter your most epic wild food fail story. Lastly, kids ages 10-17 can enter with a favorite recipe/cooking story — they do not say it has to be with wild-harvested ingredients.
Winners may be asked for a photo of the dish, but the form doesn't let you submit it with your entry.

2018 BARTENDER OF THE YEAR

DESCRIPTION

Submit 2 cocktail recipes using Heaven Hill brands. Each must contain on more than 2.5oz. total combined alcoholic ingredients with a total volume not to exceed 6oz. Recipes must have no more than 7 ingredients including drops, dashes — but don't include garnishes in the count.
The first cocktail must have a theme of Family and feature at least 1 ounce of one of these sponsor brands as the primary ingredient: Elijah Craig; Rittenhouse Rye; Domaine de Canton; or PAMA. Include a short essay/description of how this cocktail fits the concept of family. The second cocktail should be a recognizable version of a classic and must  incorporate at least 1 of the whiskies (Elijah Craig or Rittenhouse Rye) and at least 1 of the Liqueurs (Domaine de Canton or PAMA).

JUANITA'S NATIONAL MENUDO MONTH RECIPE CONTEST

DEADLINE

November 12, 2017

DESCRIPTION

Why is your (or your family member's) menudo the best? Write an essay up to 700 words long, telling the sponsor about about your version of this special soup, which must be a red menudo containing at least one variety of beef tripe meat. The hominy used should be Juanita's brand. As far as we can determine, the rules do not indicate you must disclose the precise recipe of the menudo.  If you are nominating a family member's menudo, they must be the one to bring it to any judging events, if selected. Entries may be submitted in English or Spanish.
In Texas, 60 semi-finalists will be chosen to bring their prepared menudo to Regional Tasting Events in Houston, San Antonio, or McAllen; in California 80 semi-finalists will compete in Fresno, San Bernadino, or Los Angeles (40 semi-finalists).
One finalist from each region will be chosen to compete at a cook-off for their state's Grand Prize.

ELIGIBILITY

Open to legal residents of Texas or California who are age 18 or older.

PRIZES

Create an original recipe using at least one complete participating Pillsbury or Betty Crocker baking product available in Canada. The recipe must be simple, and must take no more than 60 minutes to prepare including chopping, mixing, stirring (frequently or occasionally), baking, and cooking time. Cooling or chilling time after the entire recipe has been prepared is not counted toward the time limit. Submit a photo of the prepared item and the name of the recipe, and if entering via Twitter, Instagram, or Google Plus, also include the hashtag #BakeItPossible.
Fifty semi-finalists will be asked to submit their recipes, and from these, ten finalists will be chosen to compete in a bake-off.
