JUNIOR COOK CONTEST LIST

Welcome, Junior Cooks! This page lists contests that persons under 18 years old may be able to enter. Some of them are recipe contests, and others want an essay or a video. Students who are 18 will find some contests here that they may enter, but can also enter some contests on the DEADLINE page.

Each contest has different age requirements for entering the contest, so check the "ELIGIBILITY" line of the summary to see if you can enter that one. Some contests you must enter together with an adult.

If there is no mention of age limitations in the rules of a contest we will list them on this page. If we find out from the sponsors that they want adults only, the contest will be removed.

THE LITTLE CHEF FAMILY EDITION CASTING CALL

DESCRIPTION

Does your family like to cook together? Tell the sponsor in 250 words or more how your family likes to cook together, and include a photo of the family in the kitchen.
Ten semi-finalist families will be asked to submit a video showcasing the family cooking with small potatoes. They will also be interviewed. Two families will go on to have a cook-off on The Marilyn Denis Show in December 2017.

ELIGIBILITY

Open to legal residents of Canada. Must enter as a Family (maximum size 4 participants), defined as at least 1 but no more than 2 adult parent/legal guardians, and at least 1 but no more than 3 minor children between 6 and 17 years old. A parent/guardian who is age 18 or older must submit the entry.

PRIZES

2017 OUTDOOR NEWS TASTE OF THE WILD: RECIPES AND MORE CONTEST

DESCRIPTION

There are several ways to enter this contest. The first is for adults: enter an original recipe featuring wild game, fish, or any foraged wild edible. The second option is for adults also: enter your most epic wild food fail story. Lastly, kids ages 10-17 can enter with a favorite recipe/cooking story — they do not say it has to be with wild-harvested ingredients.
Winners may be asked for a photo of the dish, but the form doesn't let you submit it with your entry.

ELIGIBILITY

No residency requirements stated. Open to persons age 10 or older. Those 10-17 must have parent/guardian permission and enter under the parent/guardian's name.

HERITAGE GIRLS SCHOOL NATIONAL COOKING COMPETITION 2018

DESCRIPTION

Submit the recipe for an innovative dish that you have cooked, like to cook, or have seen being cooked, and include a photo of the dish. Recipes must fit one of these four categories: Snacks, Dessert, Salads or Curries. They must be vegetarian (eggs are permitted in desserts only). Creativity, presentation, and fusion of cuisines are all important. You should be able to prepare your entry in 90 minute or less before the judges if you are invited to participate in the final competition, to be held at Heritage Girls School campus in Udaipur on 20th January 2018.

ELIGIBILITY

Open to legal residents of India who are girls ages 9-16.

PRIZES

16 Finalist Prizes: Travel and accommodations for finalist and accompanying guardian to attend the final competition.

NATIONAL RICE MONTH SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST

DESCRIPTION

Create a video about U.S. rice, National Rice Month, and the importance of rice to your state. The maximum length of your entry should be 3 minutes or less.

ELIGIBILITY

Open to legal residents of of rice-growing states (Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Texas) who are High School Seniors in the 2017-2018 graduation class.

PRIZES

Grand Prize: $4,000 scholarship and a trip with a chaperone in December 2017 to the awards ceremony at the 2017 USA Rice Outlook Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
Second Prize: $3,000 scholarship.
Third Prize: $1,500 scholarship.
Proof of college enrollment must be verified before funds will be administered to scholarship recipient or the college of his/her choice. The scholarship(s) will be deemed voided if recipient(s) fail to enroll in an accredited college or university within 12 months.

MADE BY MILK™ 2017 CARTON CONSTRUCTION CONTEST

DEADLINE

DESCRIPTION

Teams of students are invited to collect milk cartons and use them to create sculptures with a sports theme. Supporting materials may be used but should be kept to a minimum. Submit four photos of the sculpture (no students in photo, please!). Submit them with an essay (200 word max) about what makes the sculpture complete and required details about the sculpture.
The contest is split into two age groups, PreK - Grade 5 and Grades 6-12. The age groups are further divided into categories by the number of cartons used, whether more than or less than 300. Each team must have an adult sponsor who will submit the project, but the work should be done by the students. 

ELIGIBILITY

Open to schools in the 50 United States and DC (as per entry form). The entry must be submitted by an adult sponsor, but the creation should be made by students in PreK - Grade 12.

Do you dream of entering a food service or restaurant related program after you complete high school? Submit a video with a demonstration (or partial demonstration) of you preparing an original recipe dish and an explanation of why you feel you should win this scholarship. Be sure your video is no longer than 5 minutes, and clearly shows a visual of the finished dish you demonstrate. Avoid showing logos, brands or trademarks, and any music, art, etc., that you didn't create.

ELIGIBILITY

Open to legal residents of the 50 United States and DC who are juniors and seniors in an accredited high school or a GED program, ages 16-19. If under 18, you must have parent/guardian consent to enter. Must be planning to major in a qualifying food service or restaurant related major or concentration.

PRIZES

4 Finalist Prizes: A trip to New York City for several days during the approximate period January 30, 2018 – February 2, 2018 to compete in the NYC Challenges that will take place at one or more locations in New York City. Travel arrangements and accommodations will be made by Sponsor and basic costs of trip for contestant plus 1 parent, legal guardian or chaperone, will be covered by Sponsor.
